25th July 2024
Matters discussed:
At this Research and Campaigns Working Group we discussed Citizens Advice’s consultation paper on a new core support service offer, which is given in exchange for our membership fee. We had a very productive team discussion about how the changes may impact our service. You can watch our discussion in full here.
Next steps:
From this meeting, and subsequent meetings with our trustees, we have submitted our consultation response. We will keep the working group updated on the progress of the consultation as it enters the next phase.
13th June 2024
Matters discussed:
At this Research and Campaigns Working Group we discussed the Grenfell Joint Needs Assessment, which was produced by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s Grenfell Dedicated Service team and is the result of 6 months of consultation with the bereaved and survivors of the Grenfell Fire about what services should be available to this group in the next stage of Grenfell recovery. You can read the publications here.
This meeting was well attended by our advice team so we were able to get a range of different views on our experience of working with the bereaved and survivors of the Grenfell Fire, including the common types of issues they present to us and the level of dependency they have on our services, e.g. for us to take action on their behalf or to offer reassurance and wellbeing support. An observation from the team was that the new model may not provide the quick links into advice support that some clients will require to swiftly resolve their issues, though it was noted that in the consultation response efforts would be made to ensure partnership of the new dedicated service with services like Citizens Advice.
Next steps:
The Deputy CEO fed back team comments and views to the Dedicated Service team, which were welcomed and are forming the basis of subsequent conversations about support in place for the bereaved and survivors after September 2024.
